THE REVEREND CANON EDWARD R. MONK, SSC, DD

Father Monk was born in Oak Cliff, Texas, and grew up in the Dallas and Waco areas.

​

Father Monk attended Baylor University, and Nashotah House Seminary in Delafield, Wisconsin,

Father Monk was ordained deacon in November 1998, and priest in 1999 by The Right Reverend Keith L. Ackerman, SSC, the 8th Bishop of the Diocese of Quincy (Illinois).

n March 2003, Canon Monk was called to be the Rector of Saint John’s, and he formally assumed his post on Palm Sunday.

​

In 2003, Bishop Ackerman appointed him as an honorary canon of the Diocese of Quincy, in recognition of his service to the Diocese.

​

In the Diocese of Dallas, Father Monk has served on the Standing Committee, including two years as President, on the Reconciliation Committee, as Chairman of the Ad Hoc Fellowship, and a deputy to General Convention.

​

Having served 12 years on the Corsicana School Board, Father Ed currently serves s Board Chair of Nashotah House, Vice-Chair of the Navarro County Appraisal District, and on the Corsicana Board of Adjustments, and Compassion Coriscana.

Father Monk is married to the former Virginia Newberry, and they have three children, Siler, Jonathan, and Catherine.

Scott Clinton has been the Organist and Choirmaster at St. John’s Episcopal Church since September of 2017. Scott oversees the music program, directs the choir and plays the SIPE pipe organ. Prior to coming St. John’s, he served at First United Methodist Church, Corsicana for seven years. Scott also worked as a full time Church Musician for over 30 years and has held positions in Louisiana, Miami and Texas.

​

Scott began piano lessons at age 6 and continued to study until high school.   While in high school, he began organ lessons at Louisiana College with French Train Organist Lucille Webb, and Continued on to Northwestern State University.  While in school, Scott accepted the full time position at Church of the Little Flower in Coral Gables, Florida and completed his B.M. at Barry University (Catholic) in Miami Shores, Florida.  Scott later moved to St Hugh’s Catholic Church in Miami, Florida and worked for the office of worship at the Arch Diocese of Miami.
